DAVIS HARRIS
SOUTHERN ARKANSAS MULERIDERS

Coach Steve Browning on David Harris

“David was a key contributor to the success we had this year,” lauds Browning. “He was an impact player both offensively and defensively for us at shortstop, and he seemed to always get the big hits for us at just the right time.”

Ask most any coach and they will tell you that the strength of any baseball team lies in the middle of field: from behind the plate, to the infield, to the outfield, the players that play these positions are often the most talented players on a team and are also asked to carry the load both offensively and defensively.

With that said, senior shortstop David Harris is a more than deserving finalist for the Josh Willingham Award.

All season long, Harris hit in the middle of the Mulerider order and played solid defense at the pivotal shortstop position.  A player with a knack to come up with the clutch hit, Harris had 40 extra-base hits (22 doubles, 12 homeruns, and six triples) and hit .379 (36-for-95) with runners in scoring position. He was also even better in driving in runs with a runner on third base and less than two outs as he hit .577 (15-of-26) in those situations.
