FICO KONDLA
COKER COBRAS

Coach Dave Schmotzer on Fico Kondla

"Fico is Coker's MVP. He is a leader both on and off the field. His loud and boisterous attitude has been infectious this season, and he has been instrumental in us making it to the Division II National Championship. He is a true clubhouse guy, he pumps up the team when needed, keeps everyone focused and he is another coach to the team."

Coker's first baseman Fico Kondla is not exactly a player you overlook when watching the Cobras. If his long hair and 70's style facial hair don't attract you, you will most certainly hear him. He is constantly talking. He is always giving words of encouragement to teammates. He coaches from the field, he talks to the opposing team, the umpires and he is often cheering and screaming. He is the heart and soul of the Cobras, an MVP and leader in every sense of the word.

In addition to his leadership, he is an outstanding player. An All-Conference and All-Region selection, Kondla leads the team in nearly every offensive category, including batting average (.423), RBI (47), home runs (3), doubles (16), slugging percentage (.566) and stolen bases (23). He is also an exceptional fielder, in 478 chances he has committed just five errors for a .990 fielding percentage.
